Project WORKS

About US

Project WORKS is a career support unit under Ebenezer School & Home for the Visually Impaired. Led by visually impaired young professionals, we aim at enhancing employers' understanding of the ability of the visually impaired (VI) and promoting their employment so as to build an inclusive society.

To build an accessible and positive society where everyone can contribute and flourish.

Open up diversified job opportunities for VI youths and enable them to exploit their full potential and contribute to society;

Facilitate employers in identifying diverse talents and co-create a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.

From a research study carried out by Ebenezer School & Home for the Visually Impaired and Eureka Consulting Group of the University of Hong Kong in 2012, VI youth in general holds a higher expectation on the nature and form of employment upon graduation along with the increase in their university admission rate. However, as also revealed in the study, VI youth, youth with severe visual impairment in particular, faces immense difficulties in looking for jobs which match with their qualification and ability in spite of their high educational backgrounds. To address to the issue, Ebenezer School & Home for the Visually Impaired put forward a new initiative - Project WORKS to promote inclusive employment and to create dynamic employment opportunity for VI youth.

Inclusive Employment: Match jobs and employers with visually impaired youths with commensurate talents, and provide the required pre-employment and on-the-job support services.

Job Innovation: Based on the strengths and talents of the visually impaired youths, to work with the community and corporates to create diverse and innovative employment opportunities.
