Early Intervention Programme for Visually Impaired Children

Service Target

  • Aged 0-6 visually impaired children with or without other disabilities

  • Family members of these children

  • Workers and organizations providing services to children with visual impairment

  • Our community (e.g. hospitals, schools, etc.)

Scope of Service

INDIVIDUALIZED TRAINING

  • Assessment conducted by EIP professional team and training to be provided according to the visual needs of each individual child

GROUP ACTIVITIES

  • Activities held based on the visual needs of children
    (e.g. baby massage, sensory group, low vision social group, pre-writing group, etc.)

FAMILY SUPPORT

  • Counseling, home visits, enquiry and referral services are provided for families in need

  • Parent education including talks and workshops to help parents to better understand the visual needs and development of their children

  • Enhance parent-child communication as well as peer support through family mass programmes

  • Books on visual impairment and parenting are available for parents

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

  • Increase the public awareness of the visual needs and development of children
